Now the good news: It's not with my ASRock B550 PG Velocita daily driver, whew! Now, the bad news: The MSI B450 Tomahawk, which had the Ryzen 7 3700X, became my Ubuntu Jammy system. I also popped the Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 6600 XT into it. In later-August, I unexpectedly found the PC in my...

============ THIS IS THE JARGON FILE, VERSION 2.6.2, 14 FEB 1991 ============ Introduction ************ This document is a collection of slang terms used by various subcultures of computer hackers. Though some technical material is included for background and flavor, it is not a technical dictionary; what we describe here is the language hackers use among themselves for fun, social communication, and techical debate within their communities. The `hacker culture' is actually a loosely networked collection of subcultures that is nevertheless conscious of some important shared experiences, shared roots, and shared values. It has its own myths, heroes, villains, folk epics, in-jokes, taboos, and dreams. Because hackers as a group are particularly creative people who define themselves partly by rejection of `normal' values and working habits, it has unusually rich and conscious traditions for an intentional culture less than thirty-five years old. As usual with slang, the special vocabulary of hackers helps hold their culture together --- it helps hackers recognize each other's places in the community and expresses shared values and experiences. Among hackers, though, slang has a subtler aspect paralleled perhaps in the slang of jazz musicians and some kinds of fine artists but hard to detect in most technical or scientific cultures; parts of it are code for shared states of *consciousness*. There is a whole range of altered states and problem-solving mental stances basic...

Anti Virus **************************************** Gatekeeper 1.3 vir/gatekeeper-130.hqx Chris W. Johnson 13 Nov 1993 Offers protection against attacks by all known viruses. Gatekeeper 1.3 is a set of Macintosh system extensions (INITs) and related control panels (cdevs) which, when active (i.e. allowed to install themselves during the boot process) offer protection against attacks by all known viruses (to the author at the time of this release). Gatekeeper also monitors computer activities for what are considered to be suspicious 'events' or 'operations', in an attempt to intercept what could be variants of known viruses or even completely new viruses. Since its initial release in January of 1989, Gatekeeper has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to stop the spread of viruses which were unknown during its design. Like any anti- virus system, however, it cannot guarantee complete protection. Of course, no claims or promises are made regarding Gatekeeper's effectiveness or suitability, and some functions and capabil- ities of Gatekeeper are non-trivial to use and may require a careful readin...

Issue #565 has been reported by Vittorio Mori. ---------------------------------------- Bug #565: Wifi card not recognized (not enumerated) at all, Lenovo M700 tiny https://ticket.coreboot.org/issues/565 * Author: Vittorio Mori * Status: New * Priority: Normal * Target version: none * Start date: 2024-10-03 * Related links: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1o3ah4UMuQdK5z-D24uLYSXD3if47N5hs/view * Affected hardware: Lenovo M700 tiny ---------------------------------------- Hello, I've compiled coreboot for my Lenovo M700 Tiny, to have other processor support (Kaby Lake/Coffee Lake). The ed2k payload works correctly, I can successfully boot a Kaby Lake and Coffee lake CPU with Coreboot (original Lenovo BIOS is Skylake-only). I report two annoying issues: - wif card pci-e slot is not working, the card is not enumerated at all. ASPM on or off, no difference (with ASPM ON I get continous AER errors in dmesg on Linux). With original OEM BIOS the wifi (Intel 8260 wifi5 chipset) 100% works. On coreboot I get only the bluetooth part working (I know it's on the USB bus, so I think it's normal). - I use libgfxinit for graphics part: works correctly at boot, Linux booting always OK, but Windows 11 fails to initialize the displayport output i.e. it gets TURNED OFF for some reason when windows starts. I have to unplug and plug the cable back to have display back ON. This also does not happen with original OEM firmware. Maybe I must use a GOP ? I could not find a clear guide on how to...
